“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you."
James 4:8

Hello, ladies. Have you heard this scripture before? I'm sure
many of us have. Now, have we taken the time to ponder this?
Maybe, maybe not. It seems like when we go through hard times
or really need God to step right in and fix or mend some
situation in our lives, we call on God and want immediate results.
You know I've even found myself calling a good friend first every
now and then. Once I've calmed down a little then I will go to
God. I usually go to Him first but there have been those
moments. Can anyone relate? So what can I do or what can we
do about it? We want to get closer to our Father but what do we
do? The scripture tells us plainly, “Draw near to God and He will
draw near to you.” We make it harder than it is. If we were to
read all of James chapter 4 we would surely find answers to a lot
of our own questions. The key thing is to really look at ourselves
honestly. Examine our hearts, our desires. Is God, and a
relationship with Him, really important to me? Or is there an idol
in my life right now? What is that idol? Money? A new job? A
new baby on the way? My home? My husband or boyfriend? We
can go on and on. I say all this to ask yet another question.

Are you comfortable where you are right now in your spiritual
walk, or do you want more? A deeper relationship with your Lord
and Savior? Is going to church on Sunday's a good enough?
Personally, my answer is NO! I am always reading or doing
some Bible study at home all by myself. Yet God has tugged at
my heart to have our ladies’ bible study at our home. In a
relaxed atmosphere. There are ladies from different churches
around the Kendall and Bexar County area. Every lady that has
come to our study shares the same thoughts. They are
searching for more than just church on Sundays. Isn't God so
wonderful? He knows the desires of our hearts. We just have to
wake up and smell the coffee, so to speak.

Now here is where you can come in, Thursday nights at our
home ladies start trickling in at 6:30 PM for fellowship and
prayer requests. We begin at 7:00 PM and try to finish up by 8:
30 PM. What do you think? Would you like to join us? Let me tell
you a bit more.

We are now starting a new book with a workbook that
accompanies it. Nancy Leigh DeMoss is the author. “LIES
WOMEN BELIEVE AND THE TRUTH THAT SETS THEM FREE”
is the book. The workbook is titled “WALKING IN TRUTH.” Some
things that the author touches on are:

*Lies about themselves: I should not have to live with unfulfilled
longings.
*Lies about sin: I can't walk in consistent victory over sin.
*Lies about their marriage: If I submit to my husband I will be
miserable.
*Lies about their emotions: I can't control my emotions.
*Lies about their circumstances: I just can't take any more.

Ladies these are all deceptions! We can live in victory! There is
more to God and living a good solid Christian life. It's not about
religion. It is all about a personal and intimate relationship with
our wonderful Lord and Savior.

So do you want to ride the boat as a disciple or do you want to
step out in faith like Peter and draw closer to God and see what
He has in store for you and me(Matt 14:22-29). I'm stepping out!

Think about it, definitely pray about it, and maybe even read
over James chapter 4 and see how God speaks to your heart. If
you have any questions or would like to sign up for the study
email me or call me.

Blessed to be His servant,
Pat McDaniel
